Slightly hysterical... but a good ab workout

So, this evening both Nathan and I were feeling a little goofy..... Okay, I was feeling goofy and he was egging me on. And where to find more sources of hilarity than at Safeway.

Everything was going okay, I wasn't laughing manically or anything until we got to the till. How Nathan and I work this is that he unloads the cart, then goes through the little aisle. He puts all the bags in the cart and I usually pay. Sometimes we do this backwards, but today that was the way it was. I had handed the cashier my club card and Airmiles and then I was supposed to swipe my debit. Nathan was kind of blocking the way with the cart and not really paying attention to me. I didn't want to shove the cart out of my way and run over his foot, so I quietly and nicely asked him to shift a little bit. Now, most of you might be snickering here, but I did ask nicely! Anyway, after this display of courtesy to my grocery shopping companion, the cashier pipes up "Oh! Is that your son? You're so gentle with him!" Well! Let me tell you, I didn't quite know what to say. Of course I went beet red and vehemently denied that Nathan was my son. The cashier was suitably embarassed. When we got out of the store, I couldn't stop laughing! I still can't decide if I should be insulted for appearing old enough to have a full-grown "son", or pleased that she thought I looked so young to have a son so old! Anyway, a car ride home full of giggles and then I decided that I was insulted. Not really insulted, just a little hurt! It's been so long since I've been id'd at a liquor store, maybe I really am starting to look old!

Anyway, we were unpacking the groceries and Nathan was being goofy and egging me on about the "Mom" thing ("Stop embarassing me Mom!", "Why do you have act so silly Mom"). Needless to say we were both laughing pretty hard and then I unpacked the chicken breasts. We had bought a value pack, so I was dividing the chicken up into 2 breasts packages. The last two were kind of stuck at the back of the styrofoam tray, so I said (to them) "C'mere you breasts!" Nathan just sighed and said "You have no idea how many times I've thought that statement, but haven't dared say it out loud." This was especially hilarious after such a weird evening, so we laughed and laughed. So, someday soon I may just hear Nathan say to me "C'mere you breasts!" .... Confined by Rigidity

I think I must have been a nomad or something in a previous life. Lately, I've been feeling the urge to do something different, go somewhere different, experience something new, etc. I feel confined by the boringness that is a Monday to Friday, 8 to 5 job. I want something different! Then, of course I think back on when I had unpredictability: at school, part time jobs, etc. And I remember that all I wanted was to know exactly what I was doing everyday. To know that I would go to work Monday to Friday and always have weekends off. Strange how one's desires change. Of course, there is the question as to what exactly I'm craving. Once I figure it out, I'll let you know..... =D
